Pumpkin pause: Council sends festival back to committee

A scaled-down version of the once-renowned Keene Pumpkin Festival was put on hold Thursday night, when the City Council voted unanimously to reconsider its earlier license approval because of recent “party” chatter on social media surrounding the upcoming event.

And three additional voices have raised concerns. In memos delivered to the city Thursday, Keene State College Interim President Melinda Treadwell, Police Chief Steven Russo and Fire Chief Mark F. Howard asked the city to reconsider moving forward with the festival.
