A recent post via Childcare Worldwide on the Ugandan Kids Choir’s Facebook page read: “We are so excited! The choir will be here (in the U.S.) soon! Be praying for safe travels for the kids as they experience their first plane flight, which will be quite the experience! How fun!”

CONCORD — The Ugandan Kids Choir brings its traditional African songs and dances to the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center for a unique show in the planetarium’s theater at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

“Meet young African musicians who share with us the wonders of the night sky — but from a very different global position. Earth’s equator crosses right through Uganda,” event organizers said in announcing the program. “The center will project the Ugandan night sky on its 40-foot planetarium dome just prior to the performance.”

The performance is included in the price of admission to the center. Those wishing to see only the choir may gather at the reception area at 3 p.m. for an escort to the program. Seating is limited to 103 people.
